How to Convert HEIC Photos to JPG
Last updated
Many iPhones save photos as HEIC, a compact format that not every program or website accepts. Converting to JPG makes a photo open almost anywhere.
Steps
- Add your .heic or .heif photos to the HEIC to JPG tool.
- Select Convert to JPG.
- Download the results.
- Optionally shrink them further with Image Compress.
What to expect
JPG is a lossy format, so the converted file is a high-quality copy rather than a perfect duplicate. Keep the original HEIC if you may want it later.
Metadata such as location and camera details is generally not carried over, which can be useful before sharing photos.
If a file fails
Some HEIC variants, such as certain depth or burst files, cannot be decoded in the browser. Try exporting the photo as JPEG from your phone’s share options instead. The first conversion may take a moment because the decoder is large.
