URL Encoder

Encode a text value such as a search query or parameter value using standard URI component encoding.

Encode text for safe use as one URL component, such as a query parameter. This works on a component, not a complete URL.

URL encoding is not encryption. Conversion is local to this browser.

How it works

  1. Enter the text to encode.
  2. Select URL Encoder.
  3. Copy the percent-encoded result into the appropriate URL component.

Good to know: This encodes one component, not a whole URL. Do not encode an entire URL as a single query value unless that is specifically what your application expects.

Privacy and processing

Encode URL components

Use component encoding for a query value, path segment, or other piece of text that will be inserted into a URL. Reserved characters such as spaces, ampersands, and question marks are percent-encoded so they are not mistaken for URL structure.

Do not encode a complete URL as one component when you need its scheme, host, path, and query string to remain separate. Build the URL from its parts in your application instead.
